Day 1: Exploring Zadar
Upon arrival at Zadar Airport, you can easily reach the city center by bus or taxi. Start your discovery with a walk through the Old Town, located on a peninsula surrounded by the Adriatic Sea.
Wander through the cobbled streets and discover Roman remains, including the Roman Forum and the iconic Church of St. Donatus. Don’t miss St. Anastasia’s Cathedral, whose bell tower offers panoramic views over the rooftops and the sea.
For lunch, settle into a traditional restaurant in the historic center and enjoy local specialties such as grilled fish, Dalmatian-style risotto, or Pag cheese paired with a glass of Croatian wine.
In the afternoon, stroll along the ancient city walls and the waterfront promenade. Experience the unique Sea Organ, an architectural sound installation that creates music powered by the waves. Right next to it, admire the Greeting to the Sun, a solar-powered light installation that comes alive at sunset.
At the end of the day, sit by the waterfront to watch one of the most beautiful sunsets in Europe—famously praised by Alfred Hitchcock himself.
In the evening, explore the lively bars and restaurants of the Old Town for a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
Day 2: Nature and Relaxation
Start your second day with a coffee in People’s Square (Narodni trg), the vibrant heart of the city.
Next, head out on an excursion to the nearby islands of the Zadar archipelago. A boat trip to the Kornati Islands or Dugi Otok will allow you to discover wild coves, crystal-clear waters, and unspoiled landscapes.
If you prefer to stay on land, opt for a day trip to Plitvice Lakes National Park or Krka National Park, both famous for their spectacular waterfalls and scenic walking trails. For lunch, choose a local konoba (traditional tavern) and enjoy peka, a typical slow-cooked dish prepared under a bell-shaped lid, or freshly caught seafood.
In the afternoon, relax at Kolovare Beach, just a short walk from the center, or take one last stroll along the coastline. Before heading home, visit the local market to pick up Dalmatian olive oil, artisanal honey, or lavender-based products as souvenirs.
