Luxair’s corporate culture is deeply rooted in strong community values, social responsibility, and putting its focus on people. The company is committed to maintaining a leading social model for an airline operating in Luxembourg, fostering a workplace grounded in inclusion, fairness, and employee well-being. This approach is supported by robust social dialogue, equal opportunities, and continuous investment in staff development.
Diversity is a defining strength of Luxair, with more than 60 nationalities represented across its workforce and a clear commitment to gender parity. Employee well-being remains a priority, reflected in comprehensive health, wellness, and safety initiatives, including expanded first aid training and ongoing support systems that contribute to a positive and secure working environment.
Beyond its role as an employer, Luxair embraces its broader responsibility as a key player in the aviation sector. Well aware of the impact of its activities on the environment, reducing environmental footprint is a crucial factor in every decision and investment made by Luxair. Continuous efforts are conducted, allowing Luxair to operate in the most responsible, sustainable and efficient way. Fleet modernization, improved fuel efficiency, and the progressive reduction of single-use plastics, contribute to a more sustainable future for aviation.
Luxair has signed two important documents, which are the Modern Slavery Statement and the Code of Conduct for Suppliers, in a bid to develop and promote responsible and ethical policies in all countries where the company operates, whilst maintaining high ethical standards and acting with integrity for its regular operations. By signing a supplier code of conduct the company commits to run its business activities with ethics as well as in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Luxair requires all its suppliers and subcontractors to comply with its Code of Conduct. Suppliers are expected to conduct business in an ethical manner and act with integrity in all business relationships, refraining from any form of corruption, extortion, or bribery.
Luxair embraces its responsibility beyond the aviation sector by actively contributing to the well-being of the communities it serves. Through its engagement in key national and social initiatives, the airline supports broader societal goals and reinforces its role as a responsible and committed partner.
This commitment is reflected in collaborations with organizations dedicated to addressing critical global challenges such as forced labour, child exploitation, and human trafficking. Within its sphere of influence, Luxair strives to promote ethical practices and raise awareness on these important issues.
At the local level, Luxair maintains strong, long-standing partnerships with associations, schools, and social institutions. The airline supports a wide range of initiatives throughout the year, from facilitating student travel and providing educational resources to contributing to social and medical causes that benefit people and communities in need. It also actively promotes local talent, helping individuals represent Luxembourg on the international stage.
Luxair’s dedication is further illustrated through symbolic initiatives such as its annual “ugly Christmas sweaters,” whose proceeds are donated to charities supporting children and families.
Fully aware of the legacy it is leaving to the next generation, Luxair is actively working on solutions to reduce its environmental footprint:
Luxair operates a mixed fleet of jet and turboprop aircraft designed to meet the needs of its regional and medium-haul network while supporting more sustainable operations. This balanced fleet composition reflects a deliberate strategic choice, enabling Luxair to optimise operational performance while limiting environmental impact. On short-haul routes, the turboprops and regional jets operated by Luxair emit up to 45% less CO₂ than larger aircraft on comparable routes, reinforcing the relevance of the regional aviation model and its contribution to sustainable connectivity.
Luxair is undergoing a fleet renewal, with the introduction of new-generation aircraft equipped with advanced technologies expected to significantly lower fuel consumption, carbon emissions, and noise pollution, while enhancing the overall passenger experience. Once in service, the Boeing 737 and Embraer E195-E2 aircraft are expected to cut fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions by up to 25% compared with previous-generation models. At the same time, perceived noise levels will decrease by more than 20%, and by up to 35% in the case of the Embraer E2, positioning both aircraft families among the quietest in their respective categories.

Luxair’s fuel efficiency strategy is built on a structured, forward-looking approach that supports the company’s broader decarbonization ambitions and commitment to climate mitigation. Fully aligned with European and international frameworks, including ReFuelEU Aviation and IATA’s Net-Zero 2050 commitment, the strategy aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across all flight and ground operations. As Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) becomes an increasingly important pillar of aviation decarbonization, Luxair is progressively integrating SAF into its operations, with aircraft already capable of operating on blends of up to 50%, while continuing to monitor market developments and advocate for a fair regulatory framework that preserves regional connectivity.
Fleet renewal is a central pillar of this strategy, enabling long-term emissions reductions through the introduction of new-generation aircraft such as the Boeing 737 and Embraer E195-E2, which reduce fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions by up to 25% compared with previous-generation models. At the same time, Luxair continuously enhances operational efficiency through advanced tools such as the Electronic Flight Bag, fuel and engine monitoring systems, and a new state-of-the-art flight planning platform. These technologies, combined with route optimization, aircraft weight reduction, and fuel-saving operational procedures, help lower carbon intensity across daily operations.
In parallel with its fuel efficiency strategy, Luxair has implemented a dedicated energy policy designed to reduce the environmental footprint of its ground operations and support infrastructure. Fully aligned with its broader climate commitments, including IATA’s Net-Zero 2050 target and the Toulouse Declaration on sustainable aviation, this policy addresses emissions linked not only to aviation activities but also to buildings, offices, hangars, and ground services. Key measures include the progressive electrification of company cars and ground service vehicles, supported by incentives for hybrid and electric mobility, as well as the gradual phase-out of combustion-based equipment. Luxair also continues to improve energy efficiency across its facilities through targeted actions in heating, lighting, and IT infrastructure.
To further strengthen its transition toward low-carbon operations, Luxair sources 100% of its electricity from renewable energy certified through Guarantees of Origin, while solar panels installed at its headquarters contribute directly to on-site renewable energy generation. The company also promotes a culture of energy awareness among employees and service partners through dedicated campaigns and training initiatives that encourage sustainable behaviors in daily operations. Supported by performance indicators that track energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and related impacts, Luxair’s energy policy is embedded in a continuous improvement cycle that guides decision-making, identifies further reduction opportunities, and reinforces sustainability across all levels of the organization.
The airline is continuously enhancing its in-flight catering concept. No more single use, but an eco-friendly recyclable recycled concept favouring local products and producers.
