  • What is Luxair SMART UPGRADE?

    Luxair SMART UPGRADE is a great opportunity to enjoy our Business Class comfort and advantages. If your flight is eligible (check via the form above) you can submit an offer through our bidding system. This offer is the amount you are willing to pay in addition to your initial ticket to get an upgrade from Economy Class to Business Class. Name the price you think the Business Class is worth, get lucky and enjoy the Upgrade! 

  • How does Luxair SMART UPGRADE work?

    When you purchase an airline ticket(s) online at www.luxair.lu, the Luxair SMART UPGRADE feature will appear on the ticket purchase confirmation page if the booked flight is eligible.

    When the airline ticket has not been purchased online on the Luxair website, you may also be contacted by Luxair via e-mail around 8 days prior to departure, to take advantage of an upgrade. In addition to these two situations, you can also check if you’re eligible for an upgrade in the form above by entering your booking reference and last name. If your flight is eligible, you will be automatically redirected you to the page where you can take part in the auction.

    The bidding system has a predefined minimum and maximum amount for the offer. The bidding amount can be changed by using a sliding scale. An intensity indicator will show the strength of your offer, but it does not guarantee success. Afterwards, the offer can still be increased, reduced or cancelled entirely up to 28 hours prior to departure (provided that Luxair has not accept the offer yet).

    In order to place your offer, you are required to enter your payment information. Please note that your credit card will only be charged if your offer has been successful.

    You will be notified by email whether your offer has been accepted or rejected 72 to 24 hours prior to the scheduled flight’s departure time.

  • Is my flight eligible for an upgrade?

    Not all flights are automatically eligible for an upgrade. To check if your booking is eligible, enter your booking reference and last name in the form provided on top of this page.

  • When can I make a bid offer?

    You can place a bid as soon as you have booked your ticket and up to 28 hours prior to the scheduled flight's departure. However, your flight needs to be eligible – check the eligibility in the form on top of the page.

  • What happens if my offer is accepted?

    If your offer is accepted, you will receive a confirmation email at the email address provided at the time of the booking or during the offer process. This may be between 72 and 24 hours prior to the scheduled flight departure time. In the event Luxair accepts your offer, Luxair will deduct the amount of the offer on your credit card at any time from the time of acceptance until the scheduled flight departure time. At the time of the Check In, you will receive a Business boarding pass. If you check-in at the airport, please proceed to the Business Check In counter. 

  • What are the benefits if my bid is successful?

    • More space in Business Class with the free neighbour seat
    • Enhanced baggage allowance: you are eligible to take two pieces of baggage on hold (up to 32 kg each), golf equipment on hold & two items of hand luggage (up to 8 kg each)

    However, the fare rules of your original purchased ticket will continue to apply for cancellation policies and changes fees.

  • Can I modify, cancel or transfer my bid?

    Yes, you can modify or cancel your bid from the time that you submit your bid until 28 hours prior to the scheduled flight’s departure time and as long as Luxair has not already accepted your offer. Luxair may accept your offer at any time between 72 and 24 hours prior to the scheduled flight’s departure time.

    To modify or cancel your bid, just click the link in your bidding confirmation email or log in via the above eligibility check form by entering your booking reference and last name.

    Once Luxair has successfully accepted your upgrade offer, it cannot be changed nor cancelled. If you want to change your flight after you’ve received an upgrade, you regrettably won't be refunded or credited for your successful upgrade bid.

    Unfortunately, you are not able to transfer your bid at any time.

    If your bid was unsuccessful, you can't place another bid on the same flight anymore.

  • If I cancel or change the flight, will I be reimbursed for the Upgrade?

    If you want to change or cancel your flight after you’ve received an upgrade, you regrettably won't be refunded or credited for your upgrade bid.

  • If my flight changes or my flight is cancelled - will I still get an upgrade?

    You regrettably won't be upgraded but you will be reimbursed. Please contact the Customer Service Center via https://www.luxair.lu/en/contact and ask for the Luxair SMART UPGRADE reimbursement.

  • What happens if my offer is rejected?

    We will inform you via email (sent to the email address you provided). The booking for the original flight will not be changed.

  • When will I be told that my offer has been accepted?

    Luxair may accept your offer at any time between 72 and 24 hours prior to the scheduled flight’s departure time. You will be notified between 72 and 24 hours prior to the scheduled flight’s departure time by email whether your offer has been accepted or rejected (sent to the email address you provided). 

  • Can I choose my seat when I upgrade?

    No, you cannot select your seat when you send your upgrade offer. If your offer is accepted, you can only choose your seat during check-in.

  • Can I choose any amount I want for my upgrade?

    The system has a default minimum and maximum bid amount set. It will not accept any offer lower than the minimum amount or higher than the maximum amount.

  • Will I earn Miles & More Miles?

    Yes, you will earn 1250 Miles for a European flight and 1000 Miles for domestic flights in Germany with Miles & More for the flight segment for a successful offer.

  • How does Luxair SMART UPGRADE work if I am travelling with several people?

    Luxair SMART UPGRADE considers all passengers within a joint booking.

  • I deleted my invitation email, but would like to make an offer. What should I do?

    Enter your booking reference and last name in the fields provided in the form on top of this page and follow the directions to make your offer.
