As the country prepares for the historic Trounwiessel on 3 October, Luxair is launching a series of initiatives to celebrate this occasion together with its passengers and partners.

Luxair is entering a new chapter with the assembly of its very first Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, the inaugural step in a long-term fleet renewal programme. The aircraft is now in the final stages of production at Embraer’s facility in São José dos Campos, Brazil, and is scheduled for delivery to Luxembourg before the end of the year. Passenger operations are expected to commence in January 2026.

São José dos Campos – Brazil, December 17, 2024 – Luxair, flag carrier of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, has signed a firm order with Embraer (NYSE: ERJ; B3: EMBR3) for two E195-E2; the most efficient aircraft in the single aisle segment. The E195-E2 small narrowbody aircraft will complement the larger narrowbody aircraft the airline has on order.

To brighten up the festive season and support important causes, Luxair is launching its new Christmas collection, featuring “ugly Christmas sweaters” and matching socks. Boeing and Luxair announced today the European regional carrier is again ordering a new member of the 737 MAX family to power its sustainable growth. A year after purchasing the 737-7 and 737-8 models, Luxair has now placed an order for two 737-10 airplanes with options for two more. The 737-10 is the largest model in the MAX family and provides the best economics of any single-aisle jet.

Starting on October 27th, 2024, Luxair will expand its offerings for the upcoming winter season by adding the Netherlands to its list of served countries. This new route will enable both business and leisure travellers to fly from Luxembourg to the vibrant city of Rotterdam. The connection also provides efficient access to surrounding areas, including The Hague, the prestigious Delft University, and the beautiful beaches of Zandvoort and Scheveningen.

In 2023, despite a difficult economic environment characterized by inflation and a significant rise in interest rates, the passenger aviation sector continued its recovery. The desire to travel, especially for leisure purposes, managed to counterbalance economic challenges, allowing Luxair to welcome even more passengers and to expand its offers.

Luxair experienced an exceptional year in 2023, achieving a historic milestone by transporting over 2.5 million passengers for the first time. This achievement represents a significant 22% increase compared to the two million passengers in 2022, and also surpasses the pre-health crisis figures of 2019, when two million passengers were transported from Luxembourg airport.
